Overview and framework

Cloud Commander manages complex cloud-to-cloud migration, consolidation, or relocation projects quickly and intelligently with minimal disturbance to end users or business processes. Migrations are fast and secure, as the entire process runs primarily in a Microsoft Azure environment using these tools:

  • Azure Web App
  • Azure Functions
  • Azure Service Bus
  • Azure Microsoft SQL
  • Azure Logic Apps
  • Azure BLOB Storage

Architecture

Here’s a look at Cloud Commander’s architecture:

Since Cloud Commander is installed in an organization’s Azure environment, their data never leaves the confines of their environment. Plus, data moves quickly since the fastest migrations are usually those running closest to the data. Optionally the organization can choose to have Quadrotech host the Azure Environment.

Currently, the solution migrates content from Exchange Online and OneDrive.

A typical migration consists of these steps:

After Cloud Commander is deployed and tenants are set up, source and target pairs are matched and used to create a migration wave . These migration waves are scheduled. When they begin, Cloud Commander utilizes Quadrotech’s AIP technology to facilitate the fast transfer of data. After the data has been migrated, mailboxes are completed or “switched”. This means that Cloud Commander adjusts Active Directory, Azure AD, or Exchange Online objects to complete the migration and enable coexistence. Finally, a workstation agent updates the end user’s Outlook profile. Additionally the organization can use Microsoft logic apps to call all sorts of APIs into the migration workflow.

Easy-to-use user interface

For ease of use, Cloud Commander was built on the Office 365 UI Fabric, providing a familiar look and feel. Take a look:
