There are two additional steps, which need to be performed in order to be able to connect to an Archive Shuttle Core on Windows 2008 R2, via PowerShell. This article explains the errors which may be observed, and how to resolve them.
Command not recognized:

PS C:\Users> $core = connect-ascore -computername rowi01-as-02
connect-ascore : The term 'connect-ascore' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again.

+ $core = connect-ascore -computername rowi01-as-02

+ CategoryInfo : ObjectNotFound: (connect-ascore:String) [], CommandNotFoundException

This can be solved by issuing the command:
import-module ArchiveShuttle.PowerShell
This needs to be performed in each PowerShell session window.
Access is Denied
The following may be logged in the PowerShell console:
PS C:\Users> $core = connect-ascore -computername rowi01-as-02

In addition, if the following command is executed:

PS C:\Windows\system32> test-wsman -authentication default -computername l2-rowi-as01 -credential someuser\somedomain

A more descriptive error might be seen.
In order to resolve this issue the following needs to be execute once. It does not need to be executed each time PowerShell is launched.
Note: Another cause of the Access is Denied message is described in this article.
These issues are being investigated by Quadrotech and may be addressed in a future version of the product.
