Overview

During item collection from Enterprise Vault, EV Collector module may log error similar as following:

A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)

The network path was not found

Solution

Some of the EV Collector commands are executed against EV Vault Store. Ensure, that the value of attribute SQLServer in the table VaultStoreEntry in the EnterpriseVaultDirectory database is equal to FQDN or IP address and not to the Hostname of particular Vault Store.
Following query may be used to check the current entries:

SELECT VaultStoreEntryID, SQLServer, DatabaseName FROM VaultStoreEntry

If a Hostname is stored in the SQLServer attribute, it is recommended to

  • add EV SQL server Hostname into the HOSTS file on the machine where the EV Collector module is installed, or
  • adjust the entry in the VaultStoreEntry table in the EnterpriseVaultDirectory database.
