Federal Information Processing Standards (or FIPS) are standards developed for use in computer systems by non-military American government agencies and contractors. Several versions of Windows allow FIPS to be enabled via registry settings or group policy. This specifically enables FIPS-compliant encryption standards on Windows.
This is not supported by Archive Shuttle Core, or Archive Shuttle Modules.
If FIPS is enabled, multiple problems may be seen including:
- Issues with licensing (see additional information link at the bottom of this article).
- It will not be possible to save credentials in the Credentials Editor (meaning it won’t be possible to the Office 365 module to ingest data into Office 365 targets).
FIPS-compliant encryption standards can be turned off via this registry key:
License issue when FIPS is enabled.
